Moving forward responsibly
At Bombardier, our mission is to be the world’s leading manufacturer of planes and trains. “Leading” means several different and equally important things to us.
It involves driving progress by staying one step ahead to shape how people get where they need to go, intelligently, safely and comfortably. It entails delivering innovative products of unsurpassed quality and generating ever-greater value for our shareholders. And after 70 years of operation, we’ve learned that “leading” also carries with it the obligation to grow responsibly. This is the key to sustaining leadership.
United Nations Global Compact
We uphold the United Nations Global Compact, the world's largest corporate citizenship and sustainability initiative. A signatory since 2007, we’re committed to actively promoting its ten principles across our global operations through our strategies and, among other policies and initiatives, our Code of Ethics and Business.
Maturing in corporate social responsibility
In recent years, we’ve matured considerably in terms of our approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR). By consistently investing significant time, effort and resources, we now have a better grasp of the sustainability risks, challenges and opportunities in our two industries.
Our entire organization is working together to:
- develop key performance indicators
- improve our ability to track, compile and share accurate data
- roll out effective action plans to support our CSR commitment
- help employees, suppliers and other partners understand our CSR commitment and what they can do to reinforce it
Six pillars of CSR
We’ve identified six areas where we have the greatest responsibility and opportunity to give back. For us at Bombardier, corporate social responsibility means:
- Governing effectively
- Valuing employees
- Building responsible products
- Operating sustainably
- Engaging suppliers
- Acting as a responsible citizen
This is how we’re moving forward responsibly.
