Focused on making a difference
At Bombardier, we're focused on making a difference. The way we do this is through the Evolution of Mobility , the promise we make to our employees, customers, suppliers, shareholders and communities around the globe.
Our community role in society
Responsibility starts at home
As part of our commitment to fulfilling our responsibilities within our communities, we expect all of our employees to behave responsibly as outlined in our Code of Ethics and Business Conduct. This includes our expectations around corruption, conflicts of interest, and articulates our support of the UNGC principles. To date, some 22,000 employees have completed comprehensive training on the Code.
The Employees section of this site provides more information on employee diversity, engagement, well-being and benefits.
At the community level, we're determined to live up to our multi-faceted role and responsibilities as an employer, provider of mobility solutions, neighbour and visitor as the case may be. Our goal is to make a positive contribution everywhere we do business. This starts in the communities where we operate and ripples outwards from there.
Today our conversations around community engagement involve a growing number of employees. Our entire organization is increasingly aligned around our 3E approach to community engagement and generating positive social impacts. Thousands of our employees are active volunteers in their communities and, over the next couple of years, our objective is to enhance our support and increase these numbers.
Recent and ongoing initiatives to better align, measure and report on our social contributions include:
- updating our Donations, Sponsorships and Community Involvement Policy to incorporate, among other aspects, community involvement key performance indicators
- establishing a Community Involvement network with more than 50 employees worldwide
- creating an Employee Volunteering Committee to develop company-wide guidelines and key performance indicators to track and report on employee volunteering among our 70,000-plus employees
In 2011, we contributed more than $12 million Cdn to help build stronger and more self-sufficient communities, including $6.7 million Cdn to the J. Armand Bombardier Foundation and an additional $5.7 million Cdn to community organizations worldwide. The J. Armand Bombardier Foundation donated $6.5 million Cdn and pledged more than $11.3 million Cdn over the next eight years.
